Retail no more...

...atleast to Ryan. Yes you read it right. He has another job and he will be starting next week. He is in the process of cleaning up his table right now and finishing his remaining days. Our Manager and Execs were in shock. They don't want him to leave. He was even asked if the benefits in the other place is better than Target. Ryan smiled and said, "you have no idea". He added, "if I stay 10 years here at Target that salary will be my starting salary in other place. So, they stopped annoying him. They have been extremely nice to me lately too. One team member said because they knew I will be leaving too. I told her if not because they reimburse my schooling, I would also be gone. Ryan's new job also will reimburse his schooling up front and will only pay them back if the grade is lower than C. He will be dealing with computers and some physics stuff. He said, "now he is actually using his brain and what he learned from school". He (we) will still continue to take Business classes for his Accounting major.

I am so excited and happy for him. He deserve all the blessings. I am so thankful for all the prayers too especially Mama, Papa and my brothers and sisters. I have never seen Ryan so happy at Target now because he knew he will be leaving. Unfortunately, I need to stay at Target for atleast 3 months until his insurance in the other place kicks in. I can wait that long ,  I am taking summer classes anyway. Everything seems to be so clear now. The buying of the land that we planned and having a baby but that will be disclosed soon.

By the way, after summer classes, we might be going to see Lanie and the kids again to unwind. I really miss Garin and miss biting those cheeks. This time we will go out clubbing and Ryan will be coming with us. I still don't have the exact date yet because everything will depend on my summer finals and if Target will change my schedule following Ryan's resignation. I can't wait to see them again.

Have a wonderful week guys !

It was a success

It was our Asian Pacific Month Luncheon today. This is the first time that Target has given us Asians a month to celebrate. Besides Aldrin ( who did not help me ) it was only Sheena our HR who cooked the food. I gave her the recipes weeks ago but she forgot to give it away. Unfortunately, she was not able to join us today because they have to fly to Florida on a vacation. It was a success anyway. My first experiment was making the Bistek. I ended up making it last minute last night because we closed and didn't get home until 11:00 p.m. I was so scared that I won't make it right. I went to bed around 2:00 a.m. I also made some fruit salad which turned out to be really good. Sheena made Embutido. A recipe that I copied from Lanie. Although Sheena's embutido didn't look right but it tasted right. Everybody even asked for it's recipe. The best compliment I ever had was from Kelly. She told me that my bistek tasted really good and she ate a lot even if she never like eating beef. They also liked my fruit salad. Henry approached me and said" I thought you don't know how to cook Merydith" and I said, " I just learned it last night Henry because I didn't have any choice". I officially know how to cook something atleast.

We had pancit, barbeque-Pinoy style, Lumpia-Shanghai, sweet and sour chicken, rice, embutido and fruit salad for dessert.

Seating: Florence, me, Barb, Valerie

Standing: Jill (I call her Jelly Beans) and Misty

Yesterday too we went to get some ingredients that I need for the fruit salad. I found these cheap mangoes for only 89 cents at the Filipino store. I bought 4 and they are all sooooo yummy. Just look how ripe they are. I ate the fourth one before I could even take a picture.

... and I underestimated him.

It's been a while since my last post. We were just home during our vacation. We were planning to go to Galena but with the dog (Gilbert) with us, it is hard to go anywhere. He is a pain and leaving him with somebody will be a nightmare. Anyways, we had our finals last week. We did really good but I didn't realized I was in for a surprise and I am so sorry to say that I underestimated my husband.

Two days before finals our professor decided to have a long quiz in preparation for Finals. Since it was a group effort, Ryan and I decided to split the chapters in the book since we only have one. A day before the said review quiz. I studied for hours. I think I studied for straight 6 hours for only 7 chapters. I made sure I got it right and re-read some of the important things. After I finish my chapter I bugged Ryan to start reading and he was like, " later Sweety", my eyes grew big and told him " later ka karon". Imagine too he had 8 chapters to read. After an hour I checked him again. I was disappointed when I saw him lying on the bed sleeping . I annoyed the heck out of him and he got up and told me he was done reading and I said what? done reading? in an hour and he said yeah, with a surprise look on his face.

I never went to school with a boyfriend. I always felt like if my boyfriend is in the same class as me I won't be able to concentrate at all or it would be very embarrassing if I can't answer a question from the teacher. I never expected either that I will be classmates with my husband. The day of the review quiz came. I was still bitching because I felt like  he did not study enough. He kept on telling me that he reads fast and remembers everything but I did not believe him. I jokingly told him, "yeah right, wish I was like that". I was very nervous because this is my first major exam in this school at least. To make the long story short, Ryan kicked some ass. We got the highest score in the class. There were 4 of us in the group. Ryan, me, Meridith and Brendon. We can tell that both didn't really do their part but it was ok. In the questions from Chapter 1-7, I knew I did good. Meridith helped me a little bit too. But with chapters 8-15 Ryan had them all perfect. Even detailed ones he did good.

I never thought I will enjoy going to school with Ryan but I really did. Here are my reasons :

1. Enjoyed staying up to study together but doesn't enjoy getting up the next day to work.

2. Enjoyed sharing a book because getting another one is too expensive.

3. Enjoyed doing the presentation together and had seen him interact with the class.

4. Enjoyed listening while Ryan was doing his article.

5. Enjoyed running from the parking lot holding hands to the classroom because we are almost late.

6. Enjoyed putting the projects together, last minute.

7. Enjoyed the brainstorming we do while driving on our way to school.

8. Enjoyed passing lovenotes while listening to a boring discussion.

9. Most of all, I simply enjoyed being right next to my ryan.

The major challenges we are going to have will be taking 4 Accounting classes. Well it is more of a challenge to me. Although Ryan already got his AA in Science and AA in Engineering from the same school, he still needs to take accounting classes as our field of spec. We are taking classes this summer again. I thought of having a little break but I decided why not. It is only less than two months anyway but will be intense. Thanks for reading .

*p.s.* I was supposed to post a picture of Merydith and Meridith but photobucket is down. Will do it later.
